Big Blue Moma Baskets

Big Blue Moma is a Canadian fair trade and handmade company. These magnificent baskets are handwoven in Bolgatanga in the Northern region of Ghana. They are beautiful, and practical for keeping crafting supplies and big knitting projects together.

All Big Blue Moma baskets are made by hand and as such, size and shape may vary slightly. Each one is made with love.

Handles are covered with goat leather reinforcing it's construction while also adding an extra level of comfort when carrying a full load. The black and white goat leather handle is the signature of the collective in Bolgatanga, and adds an extra layer of comfort when carrying the basket.  The elephant grass is dyed in rustic pots over a wood burning fire.

All Big Blue Moma baskets are made by hand and as such, size and shape may vary slight from what is pictured.

If your basket needs reshaping, dip it in water and work out any wrinkles with your hands. Dunk it once or twice a year to ensure the grass stays moist and the weave stays tight. There is short how-to video here.

Bread Basket

Introducing our versatile Bread Basket – a charming addition to your home that transcends its name! This unique basket shape has been a reliable companion in various aspects of daily life. Originally designed for bread storage, it has proven itself indispensable for foraging, organizing knitting projects, or neatly storing mittens and hats in the front closet.

Crafted with care, the Basket base measures approximately 38 cm x 14 cm x 23 cm (15" x 9" x 5.5") high, and the handle stands at approximately 18 cm (7") when unfolded. For your convenience, the handle easily tucks into the basket base, ensuring compact storage and seamless shipping.

Round Large Two Handled

Big Blue Moma's popular Large Round basket upgraded with two handles! We love this for firewood, mittens and hats by the front door, or knitting by your favourite chair.

Large Round Baskets are approximately 18 inches x 18 inches x 11 inches high, not including the handles.

Small Round

There are many, many uses for the small round baskets, tabletop storage, gift baskets and bathroom toiletries are just a few. These baskets can vary in size, but are approximately 8 inches X 6 inches.

Sofia

A super lightweight mid-sized project/tote bag with a loop style closure. Most customers who buy this, use it as a summer style purse or project bag, as the shoulder strap are both practical and stylish.
