It has arrived....
When I opened the store, almost 5 years ago now, I had a dream. And that dream was to have Koigu yarn in the shop. Alas, due to circumstances, it was not to be....
But it is now! Here's what it looks like:

And here are some great things to do with it...
The famous Charlotte's Web Shawl. Add 5 fabulous colours of Koigu's Painter's Palette and stir. The result is a completely original shawl that shows off "Your" colours making this shawl a reflection of you. Mine would be....green. Shock of all shocks. (Pattern is $6 at the store)

Here's a free baby bootee pattern....

Use two balls to stripe this scarf.....here's a free pattern.

Super adorable stay-on booties....free pattern.

Fabulous beret....search "Breezy Beret" in ravelry.com. $5 download.

So many beautiful things to do with this yarn....it's a dream come true!
So come in and check it out.

Did someone say knit faster?!!!
Ok, Ok! I'm trying. But I knit in the American way where I throw my yarn with my right hand and it's quite slow....what can I do?
OH, HOW I WISH someone would teach me how to knit the European way that's, like, WAY faster!

Oh, thank heavens!! It's Stuart-man. Ahem. I mean Superman. Um, I mean Knittingman?
Anyway, Stuart's here to teach me how to knit, Continental style! By holding my working yarn in my left hand and by "picking" my stitches my knitting movements will be economized, enabling me to knit like Superwoman!
Oh, and it's also great for doing "fair isle" knitting where you need to hold one colour with one hand and one colour with the other hand.
Ok, enough goofin' around. Stuart is back to show you how to knit the European way, aka Continental. It's good to know.
Thursday June 17th, 7-9pm. Just 25 bucks! BOOK IT

And if you REALLY want to blow your mind, try Stuart's Portuguese Knitting class! This is great for colourwork and terrific if you have any trouble with hand/arm pain when you knit. I'll be posting a little video on my website soon, just to give you an idea of what the heck this is all about. I'll just say this....VERY cool.
Tuesday June 15th, 7-9pm BOOK IT

Everybody's fave sock class is coming up! Knit your socks from the TOE-UP!
Sunday June 20th and 27th, 12-2pm BOOK IT

Some new little goodies arrived today....
RESTOCKED in Americo cotton for Kayla Shrugs...here's pretty Jacqueline in hers....

RESTOCKED in Americo Cotton Flame for the lovely and light cotton scarf called the Roman Holiday....ahem, or the knit-a-long T-shirt we're starting tomorrow. Look at some of the fantastic colours!

And we just got this great sample in....this is a free pattern from Caryll Designs called the Wavy Feather's Wimple.
I'm totally diggin' cowls these days. They're so quick and so pretty. This one's done out of Hand Maiden's Camelspin. Man, it's gorgeous.

Ok, there's so much more to say but I need breakfast. So...I'll just say, "Get in here and check it out yourselves!"
Have a happy long weekend, my friends!

PS I have a few "Focus on You's" to catch up on, but here's one that's a real show stopper!
Stuart is always looking for new and, how should I say....'unusual' stuff to do with his knitting needles. Ahem.
Look what he's been up to! It's a "Now you see it, now you don't" wall hanging. Can anyone guess who magically appears in his detailed stitches? The word 'magically' is a pretty good clue....
Here's the 'before' angle....

And here's the 'after' angle....

WHO IS IT?? First one to email me the right answer gets a bottle of SOAK!!!
Thursday, May 6, 2010

Ok....so the KNITTER'S FROLIC is this weekend! Have you ever been?
This. Is. The. Year.
Come down to the Japanese Cultural Centre at Don Mills and Eglinton for a day of yarn shopping (and CLASSES!) like you've never experienced. Great great stuff from all kinds of terrific shops and small independent yarn dealers. Very 'oooooo and aaaaaaaa' worthy. Here's the link to all the info you need!
I will be attending the frolic as a vendor and taking all my special little goodies with me. So to celebrate I'm having a big sale of all my 'get down to business and knit' yarns. The ones everyone loves but don't have all the sex appeal of hand dyed silk. Whatevs.
You all know that Sublime Extra Fine Merino is simply divine for sweaters, Sirdar's Baby Bamboo is the ONLY thing to knit baby stuff with, and Mission Falls is the greatest (and most washable) blanket/sweater yarn ever made. So there. Stick that in your cap, hand dyed silk. Raspberry.
