You really shouldn't miss this class.
Deb Gemmell from Cabin Fever Yarns will be here showing us how to knit sweaters in the round from the top down.
OK, listen....
The beauty of this technique is that you can make ANY sweater for ANY person with ANY yarn, custom fit with NO sewing at the end. Hello?
So, if you've ever wanted to knit a sweater, for anybody, out of any yarn, this is the class for you. The sweater you make is wee, so you finish it in class. That means you learn how to make a WHOLE sweater in ONE afternoon...
Can I get a woot!
Email me to save you a spot....it's this Sunday, March 28th from 2-5pm. For $75 you get the yarn you need, the book written by Deb filled with baby sweaters using this technique and Debbie, herself, for 3 hours. Click here for the deets.
Ok. Have I mentioned that I LOVE spring? I love it. PLUS, it's my favourite time to buy yarn.
The yarn available in the spring blows my mind. It's shiny and colourful and interesting and the projects are smaller which means I have a better chance of finishing them PLUS, have you noticed how much cheaper cotton is than wool? It's awesome!
Here are some new and super fun yarns....
Katia's Tobago
is a worsted weight variegated cotton that knits fast and looks goooood. Look
at this amazing asymmetrical cardi that Jacqueline knit for us...love it with
jeans. And better hair. sigh.
And our Cathy has been busy as a bee. Look at
the little girl's top she made out of Spud and Chloe! (this is my new favourite
favourite yarn, by the way) And just because Cathy LOVES hearts she made a
matching hat to go with....her very own pattern!
She also threw this little darling together....a
little vintage cardigan. Oooooooooo. Like a tiny Jackie-O.
Sublime has
come out with more colours and a new book for their 4-ply, cashmere/silk, baby
yarn. It's delicious. This yarn must be squeezed. It's lighter than air and
soft as a-JackieO-bum. Or something like that.
Here are the colours...
And the book...
And this cute little bamboo shrug was made for us
too. It shows off a great new yarn called FLIRT (which is, in fact, baby bamboo
by another name, in big girl colours). Looks great on my topless mannequin,
yes?
And here's my finished linen neck scarf!
I threw this in the wash, then the dryer, and in came out beautifully!
I love linen. It's so easy. And the washing etc., made it super soft, drapey
and gorgeous.
If anyone wants to try this pattern I will sit down
with you at the store and cast you on and get you started. The pattern starts
out weird. Once you get it, it's so cool! (Am I right Jean?!)
So! That is my challenge to you...
And since some of you were wondering, THIS is my
neighbour who brings me beer. The big one, not the little one. Yet. But we're
working on it.
Signing off for today!
Oh! and don't
forget to email me
about the sweater class...
you won't regret it.

The beautiful fashions of spring and summer . . .
Welcome to Unwind's fashion afternoon!
OK...Imagine tropical beaches, frothy surf, sand in your bikini....and yarn.
Ahhhh....the tropical blue of Americo's Cotton Flame, thick and thin, lace weight.
The perfect Top-Down T-shirt is modeled by the not-entirely perfect, Wendy. No sewing and completely customizable makes this a must-knit this season.
Come in and pick your colour! 2 balls is all it takes!

Oooh, aaaahhhh, look at Sandra!
She's looking hot in a cool coral tank! This is a free pattern from Knitting Daily called Frock Camisole. It's a cinch to make and looks great in drapey bamboo....loads of lovely shades await you.

And here's something different....this was a shawl that became a shrug (thanks Jan!) We turned in the edges of a big rectangle and Voila! An intensely pretty shrug to throw over a little summer top on those cool summer evenings. Use 12mm needles, cast on 35 sts. Knit 3 balls worth of Maya, cast off. Sew edges of rectangle aprox 6 inches. Apply to appropriate outfit. Strutt your stuff.

And here are Wendy and Sandra again modeling a new yarn from Katia called Tobago. Gorgeous cotton in fabulous colours to brighten your life! What?!

And for the babies in your life....the sweetest little dress in Americo's organic cotton. I've kitted this up to include the leather belt! Because every great piece needs an accessory. ($32)

And let's take one more look at what Wendy and Sandra are up to this season....ooooooo! New bamboo patterns for grown ups! And great grown up shades. Nice work ladies.

Well, Dahlings. That's all for now!
Thanks for checking out Unwind's runway....anything strike your fancy?
