I’m really happy today.

Yesterday Heather and I took a day off and went downtown to visit a beautiful yarn shop called Americo.  Have y’all heard of it?  Gulp.  Wow.

For those who haven’t heard of it, Americo is a company that makes all their own yarn and all their own patterns.  They’re totally original AND they’re proudly Canadian!

Their designs are simple and beautiful.  We were in awe of everything we tried on from the light weight cotton flame shawl to the silky soft wrapped cardi made from baby llama.  Gorgeous, but like I said, simple, elegant and totally WEARABLE.  What a concept! It was all fabulous and we had so much fun!  Thanks Nicole for your hospitality!

So—you guessed it--Americo is coming to Unwind!  We will be the exclusive sellers of all their beautiful yarn and patterns for York Region.  Yippee!

I bought a ton of stuff to get us rolling on the sample front.  This stuff needs samples for the full “ooooo”, “aaahhh”, “how’d they do that?” effect. Cottons and linens will be arriving soon and then….the alpaca, llama, merino, etc.

So, we have samples to knit knit knit!!  I’ve started with the Roman Holiday shawl out of cotton flame…this is light as air and as pretty as a picture. 3 balls of cotton flame.  $15/ball

Heather’s going to make the Kayla Shrug out of pima cotton…this circular shrug will BLOW YOUR MIND at the way it’s put together.  Super cool.  5 balls pima cotton.  $15/ball.

I KNOW Fiona’s gonna knit something!  (calling all sample knitters—pick up a project that you won’t forget! Email me, if you’re interested.  I need LOTS)

So, that’s all fun and good. Happy sigh.  Quick thanks to Heather for ‘the perfect lunch’.  Seriously. Teroni’s Spaghetti al Limone—To. Die. For.

NEXT!  (spoken--in my head--like the soup Nazi)

Blue Sky’s Spud and Chloe arrived this week.  OMG it’s cute.  Here are some of the samples that are in the works…

Blue Sky Alpaca's Spud and Chloe

Teehee!  Look at that owl on his head!  I laugh out loud when I see that picture—honest to Pete!

This yarn is family and eco friendly which means it’s washable, dryable and made from mostly organic materials.  There are 3 lines; chunky, worsted and fine, and they all come with a great selection of Blue Sky’s creative and interesting patterns.  As you can see.

Hope you can stop by to check them out!

Finally….don’t forget to visit Main St. this Canada Day!

As usual the street will be closed to traffic but open for all the fun you can handle!  There will be music, food, bouncy castles!  (Our own Brad Jones the karate man will be playing his axe and serenading the street in the afternoon.  That’s worth the price of admission on it’s own!  Admission is free by the way.)

TONS of parking behind the old Antique Mall building.  TONS.

Thanks for reading!  See you soon…

Hello!

Welcome to another edition of FREE warm weather patterns!  I love hunting for this stuff!

Oh! Before I forget…I bought a new toy!  It’s fantastic for people like me.  How do I say it…slightly muddleheaded?  No, how ‘bout scattered?  Mmmmm, what about organizationally challenged?  Better.  And for those of you who don’t fall under this category you will be in awe of the organizational feat that has been accomplished for your knitting tools.  It’s called the KNIT KIT and it’s the coolest thing.

Knit Kit

As far as gadgets go, this one has it all.  It fits neatly in your knitting bag, never to be lost again.  Ahhh.  It’s good for your feng shui. The first 10 I sell I will sell at the American price of $20.  After that, boo, Canadian prices of $25 will prevail.  You gotta be quick!

Ok, onto the free stuff…look at this beautiful, light as air shawl.  2 balls of Crystal Palace’s Kid Merino will do the trick.  Here’s the free pattern link…http://knitty.com/ISSUEsummer07/PATTwisp.html

These GORGEOUS socks are from SpillyJane!  She knit them out of Misti Alpaca Hand Painted Sock yarn—Vegan to be exact.  Btw, I just got restocked with this yarn in all their new colours.  So pretty, so soft.  Here’s SpillyJane’s blog—lots of great free pattern!  Thanks Spillyjane! http://spillyjane.blogspot.com/

An old standby and one of my personal faves.  I’m sure you all recognize this pattern by now. A clapotis!  But in Misti Sock—oh dear!  Voila la pattern… http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall04/PATTclapotis.html

Hope you enjoyed this week’s edition of Free Warm Weather Patterns!  Also known as FWWP.

Sorry, one last thing.  I’m getting a fabulous line of yarn in next week (or so) from Blue Sky Alpaca.  They’ve been working diligently to create Spud and Chloe—a family friendly yarn made of wool and organic cotton that’s all washable! Great pattern support, beautiful yarn—this is why I love Blue Sky Alpaca.  Here’s a taste…
