Hi Knitting Babes!
So I've got so much new stuff here, I'll cut right to the chase and tell you about it all....
(I still have a great selection of Winter Yarns ON SALE!)
Ok.
First things first--Spring Vogue is here! Not even out of the box....Interweave too!

Here's a sock yarn all the way from Cali...
Mini Mochi from Crystal Palace Yarns has long soft stripes like Noro. The operative word here is SOFT. Noro doesn't compare. I got all 20 colours. Click here for a page FULL of free patterns fro Mini Mochi....

And another extra interesting yarn...Maisy. Again, from Crystal Palace and made from yummy corn! I had a customer today ask what happens when it rains; does it disintegrate? Good question. I'm wondering if I can serve it to my kids as a side dish tonight.

Ok Ok..sorry I suggested it!

Baby break. Back to yarn.
I got buckets of shiny linen...

that we're making into the most beautiful halter tank....

and a beautiful neck scarf too....

And we got some fresh and delicious organic cotton from Blue Sky Alpacas--I'm going to make a wee baby hat out of one ice creamy skein!

And I'm reloaded with Americo's Pima Cotton for the Kayla Shrug....remember this lovely little shrug? NEW COLOURS! Plus the purple the sample is knit in. Yes, I have it. finally.

And look at this wild stuff! I'm making a really fun and airy shawl...

that I will pin with one of these gorgeous shawl pins...

And so much more....and more arriving next week too! Whew. Stocking shelves is good for the winter blues...
And click here for CLASSES.
There are a couple coming up you don't wan to miss:

So, it's February. Blah blah blah.
But wait! What's THAT!? Colour? Texture?
Suddenly, I'm feeling light again! Suddenly, I'm feeling hopeful! Suddenly, I know that spring is just around the corner!
And, for the record, I've been searching around every corner this week looking for it.
I love winter, don't get me wrong. I love it until about....now.
So I'm thrilled that the days are getting longer....
I know that very soon I'll walk home, down Timothy Street, on a Saturday afternoon after work and all the kids will be out playing on the street. And my lovely neighbour will be waiting there to hand me a beer. Ahhhhh.....it's so close I can hear the jangle of frosty mugs.
But, since we don't have sunshine and flowers to brighten our February days, let's see what Unwind can offer up in the colour department....shall we?
This is a huge bucket of hand dyed Hand
Maiden's Casbah Sock Yarn--cashmere for feet. Nothin' better. Fresh off the
delivery truck.
AND I ordered more Soft Wavy Wraps from Fleece
Artist. Here's a juicy pile of them...
And here's a glorious picture of my new favourite ORANGE sweater. I have a lot of orange sweaters so that's high praise. Sandra knit this one.
This is the easiest pattern of all time and if you don't believe me, I'll prove it to you....

Even I made one!!! Mine's teal!
Look at me! I still have to knit the sleeves but how impressed are y'all? The orange sweater is made from 3 balls of Cascade and 2 balls of Noro Kureyon. Just in case you don't have my price list in your head that's a $41 sweater! Wowzers!
The one I'm working on below is made of Spud and Chloe (4 balls) and Noro Kureyon (2 balls) making it $80. Not bad, eh?
I LOVE the way the self-striping yarns stripes the stripes. Huh? You heard me.
It's knit Top Down--NO SEWING! Easy to customize to any size....click here for the free pattern. Thank you Dazzle Ships!
Hey--I just remembered something! We're having Deb Gemmell Of Cabin Fever down
on Sunday March 27 to teach this exact technique! Top Down, no sewing
sweaters....mmmmmmm? What a good idea! I think I'll email Wendy now to join
the group....(how's that for subliminal messages, huh?) RIGHT NOW!
Oh--and I brought back an old favourite this week...Dongegal Tweed!
Remember when we made that gorgeous sunrise circle jacket in this yarn? The yarn and sample are back. I had to drag the sample kicking and screaming out of my closet, but I won.
And
I bet you can find some great patterns for MEN'S sweaters using the tweed in
these new books I got for the library, ROB! This is my test to see if Rob reads
my emails--in their entirety. : )
<
Also, there's a new pattern book out in the baby bamboo....with all those bright colours they just came out with, this book will amaze you.
And THIS is the cutest book I've ever seen.
Toys!
And an
announcement....Debbie Bliss has been re-ordered and has arrived.
And I want to mention something unrelated to yarn....
Many of you know
Don Howard the farmer who delivers farm fresh eggs to me every Thursday in the
shop. (How LUCKY am I?) Anyhoo, I recently started buying meat from Don, as
well. He raises his own beef, pork and chicken. You can visit his farm "any
time the light's on" to check out his farm on Main St. N. just past Mount Albert
Sd. Rd. His animals are treated well and his farm is as close to organic as it
gets. And his prices are outstanding! I found out yesterday that his son,
Michael, will deliver meat, eggs, etc., to your door every second Saturday. If
you're order is over $50 give him a call! 905 473-3323
Now supporting
our local farmers, eating well and being good to the earth is delivered right to
your front door. It's just too good to be kept a secret....so, go on and tell
your friends about Don Howard's Farm!
That's all folks! See you on the sunny side of the street!
