What’s Sandra Knitting?
March 28th, 2012
Ok–It’s been 8 months. Sue me. ; )
I know, I know. There’s no excuse. But, I promise, it’s worth the wait….check this out!
Sandra got all excited about the beautiful Dahlia Cardigan so she decided to make one herself out of….you guessed it, Hand Maiden. This time from 3 balls of matching Sea Silk.
Knitting this pattern in such a lightweight yarn has made the perfect Spring/Summer cardigan.
Lovely…
And I know this page isn’t called What’s Fiona Knitting? but I had to share….
Fiona is an innovator. She can’t do anything according to a pattern or a plan. She loved the lace motif on this sweater so she grabbed it and made a baby blanket with it! What a gal! Pretty eh?
There you have it-I won’t wait for 8 months next time. Promise : )

Another amazing sample for the store…coming soon. Here’s a sneak peek. It’s called Fylleryrd–search patterns in ravelry.
One ball of Hand Maiden’s Marekesh (laceweight camel and silk blend).

And she’s at it again…remember this one?
This is the Lizard Ridge Blanket. We have so much Noro Silk Garden in the store right now, this blanket was begging to be made.
Here are her first 2 squares….should we do another Lizard Ridge Class? What do you think–have your say.
Here’s what she’s working towards….beauty.
PS she made me change her photo to this…

Ok, so Sandra’s knit lots between now and my last post. What can I say? I’m lazy.
I was just too excited to show you this one! Look at this beauty….
Sandra has made this pattern (search Feather Duster on ravelry) LOTS. She makes them out of Hand Maiden’s Camelspin because she likes this yarn LOTS.
Come see our amazing sample….

Well here she be!! Check out this loveliness…so pretty. I’ll tell you what I like about this shawl. Ready?
I have a shiny silky shawl in lace weight at the store and it’s beautiful and elegant. Something you’d wear over a little black dress that would make you feel like a princess. And everyone needs to feel like a princess now and again. (some lucky b#^$@$es are already princesses and don’t need a shawl to feel like one. Yes, I’m looking at you, Kate. And your husband. The prince.)
Anyhoo, the Rock Island Shawl isn’t princess material. It’s everyday wear. There’s no super shiny, super slippery feel. It’s casual almost. I would wear it with anything. It allows lace to be funky which the princess thingy can’t do. Do you get my drift? The colour is smoldering and goes with everything. I’m in love.
Here’s a pic…
You really need to see it in real life…it’s lace gone wild.

She’s done! She’s done! She’s done the Rock Island Shawl! I think it’s arriving at the store today! I’m so excited. I’ll post pics as soon as it’s in my hot little hands.
: )
I know I shouldn’t be surprised, but I am. Even after the underwear eating incident. (For those who haven’t heard this story, last year I bet Sandra that she WOULDN’T finish a sample for the store in 2 short weeks. I said if she got it done, I’d eat my underpants. Bad move. She got it done alright! And her hilarious daughters baked me a cake in the shape of underpants. And I ate them.)
Week of April 20th….
Sandra’s been knitting an amazing new shawl called Rock Island from Jared Flood as a store sample. I will be at the Knitter’s Frolic this weekend and I begged her to make this shawl in time for the show. Teehee! And off she goes! Isn’t she good.
Aside from one major muck up, thing have been moving along. After knitting the whole edging as well as 18 rows of the first pattern section, she was off by 2 stitches and the whole shawl was askew. Rip. Only seven hours of work to be re-done. Gasp.
Since then she’s plowed along nicely…here’s some pics. She’s getting there : ) (glad it ain’t me)
Hello Sandra! You may remember me! I came to the Unwind store in Dec. re the Laminaria shawl. Am now in Australia trying to get it done but having problems.Am o.k. to end Set up Chart (37 sts) but when I work rows 1-8 of Star Chart (6 times) I shall have way more sts than 229! Have only completed it 2 times so far and have 475 sts.!! Could you please give me some help? Thanks a million and all good wishes for 2012. Jean A. Dunn, Caledon East, Ontario. Hi,
I am getting tired of knitting scarves and I am ready to take it to the next level. I am interested in your class on May 12 on circular knitting, is there room left for 1 more?
Thanks,
Linda
