  • I had a big surprise today…..

    I fell in love again…..

Like many of you, I am a dedicated fibre enthusiast.

I’ve had some interesting conversations recently with regards to the ratio of yarn sold to yarn actually knit.  We don’t want to get too deep into the math here especially since the math does you people NO FAVOURS, if you get my drift.

The bottom line is that many of us love yarn, for yarn’s sake.  Knitting shmitting.  Yarn is a work of art all by itself.

Each skein offers us a little trip down a colourful, texturized pleasure path. I love when my eyes catch hold of a colour combination that they must drink up for a few moments.  Or when I grab hold of a yarn that springs in my hand or offers a cool silky drape over my fingers.

What’s better than squeezing yarn in the shop?  Squeezing the yarn you bought at the shop in your own home! Can I get a whoooot?!!

Anyhoo, people like me are happy that yarn is not always meant to be anything other than yarn.  If everyone had to finish their projects before coming into a yarn shop, people like me would cry and be lonely.

Can you imagine the police who would ensure that your projects were done before entering a yarn shop? Come to think of it, they’d look a lot like our husbands.

In which case, let’em make the rules.  On ONE condition: WE make the rules about ________ (insert any one of the numerous hobbies they have here) Nuff said.

My new love is from one of my absolute favouritest yarn companies.  Malabrrrrrrriiiigo!

I love the dreamy soft merino that comes from this company.  It’s also been registered as a fair trade organization.  They’re just so good.

The yarn I have fallen in love with is Rasta.

STOP HERE: If you do NOT have air conditioning where you are, just move on down the page because the last thing you want to think about right now is Rasta.  Are you gone?  I can still hear you sweating.  Trust me.  You don’t want to see this.

Ok, Rasta is a HUGE BULKY WOOLLY WOOL.  Soft and rich.  Every time I found ‘my fave’ colour today, I had to start over and pick again….check them out.

I’m thinking one ball will do a big bulky ski hat.  Giant pom pom. Maybe some braided flappy-doos. Fun times.Do NOT attempt these hats unless your world is air conditioned or your have ice cold beer ON TAP.

Malabrigo sock is back, too.  My daughter’s new favourite thing to say is “Oo La La!”  I think this yarn deserves a great big Oo La La!!!

Lots of other new stuff has been arriving.

Here’s a pretty little ditty.  I have often claimed that my ‘style’ (She uses the term loosely. Snort!) is ‘granola glam’.  I like natural with a bit of bling.  Just a tiny bit.  Some of you are more granola, others more glam.  This yarn is the very best of both worlds.  Soft and natural with light and lovely sequins throughout that light up when they move—so pretty.  Body suit?

    New mag…
    Restocked in those crazy zauberballs!
I’m going to make this Azzu shawl…one ball does it.  Easy peasy for my camping vacation!

PS: My sincerest thanks to all of you who brought in donations, gifts, cards, etc for Melissa and her family.  We raised $1200 for her trust fund!!!  Not surprisingly, you guys blew my mind again with your kindness.

Melissa sent me an email letting me know how grateful she was for our efforts.  She’s away for a month or two but will be in when she returns.

    Thanks team.  I heart knitters.
